Submitting your TANF application

In most states, you will be able to submit your TANF application in-person at a local welfare office. If you need a copy of the application to fill out, then you can view the Apply for TANF page for your state (this page can also show if you can apply online in your state), or contact a local TANF office and request a copy.

Once you have the application, make sure you read it thoroughly. In some states they also allow you to submit your application form by mail or by fax. After you submit your application, they may require an interview to verify the information you submitted as well as go over things like your living situation and household income.

This will help the state determine if you are eligible to receive TANF benefits. So, make sure you submit all required information. To find a welfare office in your area, select your state below to browse through the welfare offices in that state.
